[What my students apparently think I look like and sound like…]
January has finally come to an end, and while I feel like it lasted quite a long time, it was certainly a productive and exciting month!
The new semester has started and is finally in the swing of things. My choirs are already preparing for soon-approaching performances, and I almost can’t keep up with how fast they are learning music. Isn’t that a dream? My freshmen choir has already learned FOUR pieces entirely on solfege, and some on text. I think I’m just going to continue throwing new pieces at them until we have decided on our favorites for the spring concert. If I knew ahead of time that they were going to do this, I would have registered them for Choral Festival!
I’ve started teaching private lessons again, and am suddenly reminded of how much I enjoy doing so. For some reason, the thought of teaching outside of the school day used to make me think I’d never sleep or have free time. Silly Lindsay. In reality, I love the flexibility, and the uniqueness of each student keeps things fresh and challenging. Plus, I can wear jeans and that makes it even better! 🙂 If you are a Charleston-area person who wants lessons, or knows someone who wants lessons, I’m happy to teach!
In other news, I’m slowly writing music again, and it feels so nice. My hope is to have enough material by the end of the school year so I can spend the summer arranging and recording. I just laughed to myself a little as I re-read that sentence. It sounds so official and simple. Silly Lindsay.
All in all, January was a fresh start, and is continuing to feel new and exciting. Hoping February remains just as productive!
