Lesson Guidelines/FAQs

What are your rates?

Rates will vary based on age, level, location, and length of the lesson. I offer 30 minute, 45 minute, or 1 hour lessons. I think it is important to tailor the rates to your specific needs, rather than have a flat rate that may not be fair to you or your student. Additionally, I prefer to teach from my home as I have readily accessible resources, but am willing to travel to your home if that is best for you. There is a $5-10 difference in standard rates due to travel expenses.

Can I study privately with you if you are one of my school teachers?

Students enrolled in a course that I teach will not be eligible to study privately with me during the school year. I am happy to give summer lessons, or refer you to a trusted music teacher! Seniors looking for college audition preparation are given preferred scheduling. *Seniors enrolled in courses that I teach are welcome to see me for extra help during lunch or before/after school, or ask me for referrals!* Students attending my school who are not enrolled in one of my classes are eligible for private lessons during the school year!

How often am I required to have a lesson?

I usually prefer weekly lessons, as that keeps students practicing and the content fresh in their minds. However, I am happy to do bi-weekly lessons, or even a free first lesson to see if we are a good match or if the interest/drive is there!

When and how do I pay for my lesson?

I schedule lessons by the month, as my school schedule can sometimes change due to performance events or meetings. Payment for the month is due at your first lesson that month. Checks, cash, or PayPal are accepted. If there is an issue with monthly payments, we can find an alternate system to suit your needs.

Do you provide any discounts?

Sort of! Here are the qualifications for discounted lessons:

  • You refer a student to me and they take 5 lessons = you get a free lesson! Payment will be adjusted the following month!
  • Your first lesson with me is ALWAYS free! Let’s figure out if you’re into lessons and working with me before we commit! Your monthly (most likely pro-rated) payment will be due your second lesson should you choose to continue!
