Lindsay Brazell

Music Educator and Creative Professional

Starting Monday 1/9/17

Welcome back to the Starting Monday series! I’ve missed it for sure, and hope to continue inspiring your week of teaching or work!

I read this article a few weeks ago and found it to be the best “New Year” advice, since most folks are making resolutions and setting goals this month. Here’s a brief excerpt from the article, and you can read the whole piece here.

Influence requires truly caring about the work you do. Influence requires the willingness to take risks. Influence requires a willingness to be disliked. Influence must constantly be renewed. Influence is difficult to win, and easy to lose. Influence has no roadmap.

I love this. It makes the idea of influencing people completely reachable to ANYONE. You don’t need a title. You have everything you need to influence people.

As teachers, that’s what we hope to do each day. As humans, we all want to make an impact on the world. The fact we often forget is that just being our unique selves is influential in itself. We have our own gifts, talents, and abilities. USE THEM FOR GOOD!

Think about your influence this week, and reflect on how your special features can help others! If you can’t think of anything, you aren’t thinking hard enough! 🙂

Have a great week!
