I’m writing to you on what should have been my first day of Grad School, but due to freezing rain and poor driving conditions they have canceled classes! Though it prolongs my “first day of school nerves” an extra day, this is totally beyond awesome!
I should have the final mixes of my songs sometime in the near future, so now the real fun (or maybe it’s not fun at all, we’ll see!) begins! I started thinking about what I would do for album artwork and a title a couple months ago…Would I just put a picture of myself?…Should I ask someone to design it for me?…What on earth should I call it?….All of these questions baffled me.
Before my last recording session I was sitting with one of my songs that was previously titled, “Room to Grow,” and rewriting some of the lyrics that I wasn’t too particularly fond of. After a few line changes, the last line of the chorus became, “There’s room for you to grow, look at the room I found for me,” and I was like, “Hey, that’s a really cool song title…The Room I Found,” because the song has nothing to do with an actual room structure. And so the song was rewritten and renamed.
Then a few days later I was FaceBook stalking some friends studying in England this year and checking out their pictures. Yes, I said it! FaceBook stalking. I came across one of my friend’s photos of a side of house with extremely amazing color and detail. It was such an awesome photo, and the first thing that came to mind was, “The Room I Found.” It was perfect. What was more perfect, is that she is an architecture major and very good with graphic design, so I asked her if she would want to design my album cover. I LOVE having talented friends!
After a few drafts here and there with different color options, this is the winner!
I love it! Now the next task I suppose is figuring out the rest of the album case. I don’t even know where to begin with that, but I’m hoping that it’ll just hit me like everything else!
I also made a little Promo Video that I have put on my homepage. Check it out, it has one of the songs on the album, “She Walks On,” at the end of the video. Let me know what you think!
Until next time!
