So earlier this year I thought I was done recording…but of course I ended up writing new material and reviving older material and they ended up becoming new favorites. They each contributed to the overall theme and feel of “The Room I Found,” so I decided to give them that chance and put them on the album. Does that mean some songs may get voted off the island? Possibly. Once I have all of the final mixes I will have to play around with different track orders and see who fits and who doesn’t fit the bill. That sounds so harsh…those poor tunes. Actually, I suppose since I wrote them the burden is really on me, right? Oh well, it will all be ok!
This particular session went so fast! The last two sessions we spent almost all day for two days in the studio, but this time we were only there 4-5 hours each day. It felt so weird! These four songs all happen to be acoustic and raw, so there wasn’t many layers to add. With that said, I’m really excited to hear how they sound. Though they are simple and raw sounding songs, I have a feeling they are going to be some of my favorites. These songs have lyrics that I truly believe in, (not that the others don’t!) and I can barely remember writing them because they happened so organically. I’ll be playing all or most of them this Friday at Greenville’s Coffee Underground. If you are reading and in the area, please come out! It’s going to be a great time!
Once I get these final mixes I will make some samples to preview! Once they are mixed and mastered, all that is left is CD artwork and duplication and then it should be release time! I can’t wait!
